Welcome, Franklinites!

About the House Chairs:

Have you ever burned with passionate ideas or felt the charisma of a mad scientist? These things keep Cameo up at night white she researches the history of music, physics, philosophy, and robots. She used to work in the technology field, and is now a non-traditional student at Bennington where she will be a sophomore in the autumn.

“I guess I’d call myself a serious musician/artist with an affinity for science and much deep-rooted concern for the environment,” says Megan, a transfer student who came to Bennington as a sophomore last fall. She has started to take commissions as a painter, and teaches at a local nature center, but sees a career in singing ahead of her. Megan will be a junior in the fall.

The Franklin house was named after Mrs. George S. Franklin (Elsie Jennings Franklin), who gave her North Bennington estate to the Campus. We Franklinites are notorious for being the most intelligent, mature and attractive people on campus, as well as the most discriminating and mysteriously silent. While smoking and social drinking is allowed in your rooms, the house prefers 24 hours of respectful quiet. Occasionally we host some pretty crazy parties though, like this past fall’s Great Gatsby Party, and its sequel the following term, Great Gatsby’s Funeral. We also hosted the popular ‘PoMoBBQ,’ the Post Modern Barbeque. While we do not often have parties, the three we held last year were the most inventive and well-attended parties on campus.
